Based on the local and natural history of her neighbourhood in Sheffield, Liz Hanks’ ‘Land’ album explores both the loss of nature in the urban environment and forgotten natural worlds. She discovered that the now urban area of Meersbrook was once a beautiful valley called ‘Rush Dale’. Inspired by reading written accounts of this lost valley she created ‘Land’ in remembrance of these lost times and places.

NEW “Dar (feat. NATURE)” - a collaboration with Jason Singh and NATURE

NATURE is now officially an artist and it’s an honour to collaborate with her and be part of the global Sounds Right EarthPercent campaign, helping raise funds for vital conservation projects across the world. Listen to ‘Dar (feat. NATURE)’

‘On a bright autumn morning in Dartington, Devon, Jason and I walked along ancient paths, gathering recordings from the River Dart. Later in the studio we wove the river’s voice with harmonium and cello as birdsong drifted through the open window and created ‘Dar’. ‘Dar’ is —the old Celtic word for oak, its name echoed in Dartington and the Dart, where ancient oaks still stand, ‘Dar’ is rooted in that very special place.’
